1 in 20 children suffer from food allergies, with almost 400,000 Australians having some type of food allergy. Approximately 10 people die each year due to allergic reactions to food. (Anaphylaxis Australia)
Approximately 16 % of Australian children suffer from Asthma, and 600,000 Victorians are treated for Asthma each year. (The Asthma Foundation)
140,000 people in Australia have Type 1 Diabetes and around 900,000 have Type 2 Diabetes. Approx 65,000 cases are diagnosed internationally in children under 15. (JDRF, 2004).
